HOWELL –The
Howell Township 2004 municipal includes historic investments in roadway
improvements, according to Councilman Joseph DiBella.
“For too many
tears, Howell’s roadways have gone ignored,” he said. “Pot holes exist all
over town and there have been roads that have not been re-paved or repaired for
decades. Its time to fix our roadways and we’re finally doing it.”
The 2004
municipal budget includes $2,042,000 earmarked for road and infrastructure
improvements. Since 2003, the Township has budgeted more than $2.7 million
dollars for road improvements. This is a 105% increase in road improvements over
the preceding three years.
According to
Councilwoman Cynthia Schomaker, “We have made road improvements a major
priority for the township, and the last two budgets reflect that.”
Already under repair include major roads across the township, including:
These new
improvements are all slated to be completed over the next several months and
signal the advent of a massive roadway improvement plan. The full $2.7 million
will go toward road improvements across the community based on a road assessment
plan that ensures that those roads in the most dire conditions are addressed
first.
“We have also developed a new townshipwide road improvement plan that will provide us with a blueprint to address every road in the town,” DiBella said. “This maintenance plan will ensure that we finally have a plan to stay on top of road improvements. This is a positive for all of Howell Township.”
